Waterbank Precinct

The Waterbank Precinct is a low-lying area of approximately 4.0 hectares immediately north of the western end of the Causeway.  It is currently used as an over flow sports ground for Trinity College.

Waterbank represents and extraordinary opportunity to create a world-class waterfront development that includes residential, commercial, civic, tourist and educational facilities that take advantage of its beautiful riverine setting.  It will be a fitting development to the eastern approach to Perth’s CBD.  The development of the Waterbank Precinct is constrained by the silty geo-technical ground conditions, therefore all development will require piled foundations.

The Waterbank development will be serviced through the extension of Hay Street east to the river to provide a direct link from the CBD to the Swan River, significantly reducing traffic due to calming measures.  The Hay Street extension will serve the new development in the precinct, that will include a water inlet with jetties and boardwalks, two iconic 25-storey residential towers, complemented by adjacent towers and four to five storey mixed-use residential and commercial developments including public facilities such as cafés, restaurants and interpretive centre style opportunities on the Swan River.

The area at the river end of Hay Street is envisaged as a major public activity area with a commercial or mixed-use pier structure, entertainment, recreational and educational uses and residential living.
