Public Art

A public arts program is an integral part of the dynamic mix proposed to revitalise the Riverside project. Through the Percentage for Art Scheme, initiated by Government to improve urban environments in Western Australia, one per cent of the total estimated cost of landscape and architectural projects in Riverside will be allocated towards public art.

The talents of urban designers, landscape architects and artists will be reflected in imaginative buildings, street furniture, landscape features and stand-alone works of art. Many pieces will express the area’s history and some will be made from materials found on the redevelopment site or salvaged from old buildings.

The public arts program will create a public realm rich in creativity and shape an urban landscape of distinct character.

NEW - Public Art Strategy

A Public Art Strategy has been developed to support Planning Policy 1.9 - Public Art.  This Strategy has been designed to guide the provision of public art in the Riverside project area by detailing the influences for public art and clarifying possible themes for artwork on a precinct-by-precinct basis.  Click here for a copy of the Public Art Strategy for Riverside.
