10 June 2005 - Road Works to Commence on Hay Street East Perth

As part of the East Perth Redevelopment Authority’s (EPRA) Riverside urban renewal project, roadworks will commence on Hay Street, East Perth between the Causeway and Plain Street on Thursday 16 June and continue until March 2006.

The road and streetscaping works will calm Hay Street in preparation for new residents and workers moving into the area. Hay Street will be reduced to a single lane of traffic each way and new landscaping, pavement treatments, lighting and street furniture will create a pedestrian and cyclist friendly boulevard.

During the Hay Street road works, traffic and pedestrian management will be in place and EPRA advises road users to take alternative routes, such as Adelaide Terrace and Riverside Drive, or to expect delays during this time.

Please avoid Hay Street east between June 2005 and March 2006.

The Riverside project is bordered by the Swan River, Waterloo Crescent and Plain Street and includes major sporting and entertainment facilities such as the Western Australian Cricket ground and Gloucester Park race track.

Over the next 10 to 15 years the Riverside project will transform the 40 hectares of under utilised land into a vibrant inner city hub, becoming home to up to 5,000 new residents and 1,000 new workers.

The Hay Street works form part of the first phase of development at Riverside and the first three lots are now on the market at the former Metrobus Deport site in the Queens Precinct.
