25 February 2005 - Changes to Causeway Roundabout and Hay Street, East Perth

The eastern entry to Perth is changing.

Road works and improvements are underway in the area bounded by the Causeway, Adelaide Terrace, Hay Street and Plain Street, in East Perth. (See map above).

In coming weeks, there will be significant disruptions to Hay Street and motorists are encouraged to use Adelaide Terrace or alternative routes.

The work is part of the East Perth Redevelopment Authority’s (EPRA) urban renewal program for the area, which will see it transform into a new inner-city hub.

Work includes:

  • Changes to the Causeway roundabout to permanently direct two lanes of traffic along Adelaide Terrace and one into Hay Street, bringing about a renewed emphasis on Adelaide Terrace as the main entry road into the City.
  • Permanently reducing Hay Street from two lanes city bound each way to one lane each way, commencing at the Causeway exit and continuing to Plain Street.

Work will continue until June this year.
