Riverside Draft Masterplan: July - October 2002
Extensive community consultation has been undertaken since the release of the draft Masterplan in July 2002.
Feedback received on the East Perth Redevelopment Authority’s original draft Masterplan included 200 written and 40 electronic submissions, 141,000 website hits plus stakeholder meetings.
Consultation included:
- Presentation to key stakeholders including 16 groups and many local residents and businesses
- Six information open days attended by 275 people
- Dedicated project website that received 141,000 hits representing 2,700 working sessions
- Nine Information Sheets and a easy to read draft Masterplan brochure distributed at meetings, open days, mailed to interested parties and posted on the website
- Advertisements and advertorials in Guardian Express, Voice News and The West Australian, Sunday Times
- 34 Media clippings on the consultation in various media
- 51 calls to 1800 Riverside Community Information Line
- 209 written or email submissions
- Static display in 18 East Perth and CBD locations
Key issues which emerged from the submissions and feedback included:
- access to inexpensive parking
- building height and form
- the need for affordable housing
- continued access to the Swan River and protection of the foreshore, and;
- the question "when can I buy at Riverside?"
Many of these issues are addressed in the final Masterplan for the Riverside Precinct.
